Watch 10-year-old Faith Oxford perform the national anthem before a high school basketball game. She has an incredible voice and she's never had a singing lesson before!
Washington State basketball coach Ken Bone slipped (and fell hard) on the court in a game against rival Washington. Click here to watch video of the fall and Bone's reaction to the incident.
I shot this video of University High School (Spokane) forward Brett Bailey, a future University of San Diego basketball player, draining a three-quarter court buzzer beater against his rival high school. Don't miss this highlight!
If you don't believe in karma, you might after watching this funny hockey video. A fan heckles an injured player on the ice, and then the fan ends up injured himself (and the player takes notice).

When Prince Albert Raiders defenseman Tyler Yaworski picked a fight with Moose Jaw Warriors forward Cody Beach — I’m sure he didn’t see this coming. Beach unleashed a handful of punches right to Yaworski’s noggin (it was so bad the linesman jumped in to stop the massacre), and then, before the players were separated and taken to the penalty box, Beach literally slapped Yaworski in the face. Check it out the video…
*NOTE: If you’re a hockey fight fan like me, you should definitely subscribe to Hockey Fight Videos on YouTube and follow them on Google+ as well.
Beach obviously doesn’t rear back and give Yaworski a hard slap to the face, but I think the light tap is even more insulting. Like the announcer says in the video, it’s “a little insult to injury.” As the YouTube description points out, it could also be called a “Beach slap.”
I’m just surprised Yaworski didn’t stand up for himself. He didn’t have to attack Beach with his fists (because we saw how the first bout played out), but it doesn’t look like Yaworski even says anything to Beach after the slap (maybe he was too dazed after getting knocked around). I have a feeling Prince Albert will have a special gift for Beach the next time they face him.
You might actually see Cody Beach in the National Hockey League someday. He was a fifth round pick by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Beach isn’t much of a goal scorer, but he can dish the puck. He has 41 points (12 goals and 29 assists) in 44 games so far this season in the Western Hockey League. Beach also loves to drop the gloves. He’s recorded 581 penalty minutes in 155 career WHL games.
I’d love to hear what you think of Cody Beach slapping Tyler Yaworski. I personally think it’s a classless move. I’m a television sportscaster, so that means I’ve been to thousands of local sporting events. Going to all of those games means that I’ve listened to the national anthem a trillion times. I’m pretty sure that makes me an expert when it comes to The Star-Spangled Banner. With that said, this little girl is one of the best I’ve ever heard at a local sporting event. Take a listen!
NOTE: I’m sorry the audio is a little hot. I was going to fix the sound and re-upload the video to YouTube, but my original version was already getting a bunch of views.
That is 10-year-old Faith Oxford ROCKING the national anthem before a basketball game between Ferris High School and University High School in Spokane. Pretty impressive, huh?
In an era where big named singers like Steven Tyler and Christina Aguilera (funny how they’re both JUDGES on popular singing shows) can’t get the words to the national anthem right, Faith had no problem wowing the crowd with her performance. She didn’t even look nervous (I would have been shaking out of my shoes). Believe it or not, that was only the sixth time Faith performed The Star-Spangled Banner in public.
I was obviously impressed to begin with, but then I found out the kicker…Faith has never had a signing lesson before. That means the sky is the limit for her. I have a feeling we’ll hear Faith Oxford’s name again down the road (and not just on a local level). You can actually now follow her on Facebook as well!

Washington State head coach Ken Bone slipped on the court (falling hard on his side) trying to call a timeout against rival Washington last Sunday. I was watching the game live when it happened and I assumed I’d see that clip pop up all over the place — I was right!
Bone’s slip started making national headlines, getting featured on television shows like SportsCenter, and on websites like Yahoo! Sports and USA Today, among hundreds (if not thousands) of others.
If you haven’t seen the clip of the slip yet, here you go (jump ahead to the 5:18 mark of the video):
I cover the Washington State basketball team, but I wasn’t in Seattle for the game. So, the next time we went to practice (on Tuesday) we asked Bone and WSU guard/forward Marcus Capers about the slip. I think their reactions are pretty priceless (thank goodness Bone has a sense of humor).
ESPN College GameDay got such a kick out of our interviews that they’re using them on a segment called “The Week That Was” this weekend.
It’s always fun when one of my local teams starts making national headlines (for good (winning championships, etc.) or bad (slipping on the court during a game, etc.)). I wanted to make sure you had a chance to enjoy the incident, so I shared it with you here.
I would love to know what you think about Bone’s slip/hard fall on the court against the Huskies. You can reach me on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, email me at tim@timlewissports.com, or simply leave a comment below. Don’t forget to also check out my YouTube channel for more great videos!
When you’re a sportscaster in a market the size of Spokane (the 72nd largest market in the country), you have to do EVERYTHING. That means I edit most of my own video, produce and anchor my own shows, post most of our local sports stories to our website, and even shoot a lot of my own highlights. It’s a ton of work, but it’s also a bunch of fun.
I don’t know what I would do if I had a regular 9am-5pm office job. I would probably go insane. I can’t sit around all day. That’s why I don’t mind picking up the camera, going to a sporting event, and shooting highlights. We cover professional, minor league, college, and high school sports. Sometimes the games are boring and you get lackluster highlights, but sometimes the games are thrilling and/or you get to see a really cool play.
That’s exactly what happened last night. I saw something I’ve never seen before in person. I watched a high school basketball player drain a three-quarter court buzzer beater — and it’s all on tape (and now on YouTube):
Pretty impressive, eh?
The kid who hit the shot is University High School’s Brett Bailey. He’s one of the best basketball players in our area. Bailey is only a junior in high school right now, but he has already committed to play college hoops for the University of San Diego. There’s no question he has a bright future on the hardwood. Keep your eyes peeled for him starting in 2013.

P.S. You also get to see some really funny moments when you’re out shooting games as well. Check out this video I captured of a high school cheerleader freaking out when a football player comes running at her on the sideline. It’s hilarious!
I EASILY HAVE THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!
