It’s May 18th…nearly five months after Christmas…35 days away from the official start of summer…and I’m still whistling a holiday song.

If you ask anyone who knows me, I easily get music stuck in my head. I’ve had “Killing Me Softly With His Song” by the Fugees consitently in my brain for at least two years (if not three). Why is that song on repeat in my mind? I honestly have NO idea!

If it’s not Lauren Hill blowing through my lips, it’s this Christmas tune:

I love Christmas music (I start listening to it earlier every year), but this is outrageous. It needs to stop! Instead of slapping me in the face when I start to whistle, many of my co-workers join me at this point. They’re only making the problem worse. Sometimes they even start whistling it first, and then I kick right into melody. 

Holiday tunes, much like Christmas lights, should be banned by February (at the latest).

I hope I didn’t just get “Sleigh Ride” stuck in your head (even though it’s a hard tune to ignore…trust me). If I hear anyone whistling that song today, I’ll know they read my blog (because no one else in their right-mind is still singing Christmas music in May, but me). The last thing we need is more holiday cheer this late in the year.
