High School Three-Quarter Court Buzzer Beater

When you’re a sportscaster in a market the size of Spokane (the 72nd largest market in the country), you have to do EVERYTHING. That means I edit most of my own video, produce and anchor my own shows, post most of our local sports stories to our website, and even shoot a lot of my own highlights. It’s a ton of work, but it’s also a bunch of fun.

I don’t know what I would do if I had a regular 9am-5pm office job. I would probably go insane. I can’t sit around all day. That’s why I don’t mind picking up the camera, going to a sporting event, and shooting highlights. We cover professional, minor league, college, and high school sports. Sometimes the games are boring and you get lackluster highlights, but sometimes the games are thrilling and/or you get to see a really cool play.

That’s exactly what happened last night. I saw something I’ve never seen before in person. I watched a high school basketball player drain a three-quarter court buzzer beater — and it’s all on tape (and now on YouTube):

Pretty impressive, eh?

The kid who hit the shot is University High School’s Brett Bailey. He’s one of the best basketball players in our area. Bailey is only a junior in high school right now, but he has already committed to play college hoops for the University of San Diego. There’s no question he has a bright future on the hardwood. Keep your eyes peeled for him starting in 2013.

I would love to know what you think about Bailey’s three-quarter court buzzer beater. You can reach me on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, email me at tim@timlewissports.com, or simply leave a comment below. Don’t forget to also check out my YouTube channel for more great videos!

P.S. You also get to see some really funny moments when you’re out shooting games as well. Check out this video I captured of a high school cheerleader freaking out when a football player comes running at her on the sideline. It’s hilarious!

I EASILY HAVE THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!
