Three Things I Really Want In Life

There are three things I really want in life. When I say really in this case, I mean reeeeeeeaaaaaallllllly want.

The first is to get married and have kids. Technically, that’s two things, but I’m only counting them as one. Maybe I should just have have a family. The only problem is…I have no control over this (unless I did some weird mail order bride thing, but I’m not that desperate). I’m 29-years-old, single, and have limited prospects on the radar. I’ll have to wait for this to happen (if it ever happens).

The silver lining…being single gives me the freedom to achieve my next two goals.

These I have control over, but I’ve never done much about. I’m bringing them up now because I need you to help keep me accountable (because I’ve failed miserably doing this on my own in the past).

I want to get fit. I’m not just talking about losing weight, I’m talking about a complete body transformation. I don’t have a scale, but I’m guessing that I weigh about 230 pounds. I have a hard time breathing when I tie my shoes if that helps to explain it better.

I don’t want to call myself lazy, I just choose to focus my efforts on other things. I’ve been to the gym once in the last month (at least) and I haven’t made a home cooked meal (that wasn’t a sandwich and Triscuits) in a long time (so long I can’t even put a time frame on it). For example, I didn’t eat breakfast yesterday, drank four beers on the golf course in the afternoon, ate a huge burrito at a Mexican restaurant for dinner, added a few more cocktails later at night, and finished with a midnight (actually 1am) snack of McDonald’s. Sadly, that’s fairly typical and consequently why I’m chubby.

That’s all going to change next week. Not this week, because I’m going to Las Vegas with my dad and my brother on Thursday, but the following week (if I’m still motivated then). I’m going to change my diet and get to the gym. I know what I want to achieve, but I don’t really know how to go about it (just hope for the best I guess). I might have to get some help from my friend Joe Bauer (http://fitnessnewsnow.com). Watch for updates on my progress starting on April 19th. I might even post my starting pictures, so we can compare them as I go along.

The other thing I really want to do is get better at golf. I played for the first time this year yesterday and it was a disaster. It was so bad I didn’t even add up my score at the end (I’m guessing it was the high 90′s…maybe).

I’ve never really taken lessons before and I don’t know if I really want to start taking them now. Professionals even have a swing coach, but there’s a part of me that really wants to to do this on my own. I played so much golf last year that I improved a lot. I shot consistently in the 80′s with my best score being an 84. I’ll take that any day of the week (for now). Unfortunately, I stopped playing in July and didn’t pickup a club again until yesterday. I feel like all the ground I gained is gone.

I would love to shoot in the 70′s at some point this season. That’s my main goal. I would also love to beat my dad at some point, but that’s a whole different story. I’ll keep you up-to-date on this as well. There’s no waiting on this process…I’m going to start now. PGA Tour here I come!!!
