Video: “The Great Fan Escape”
I think fans who run out on the field during games are idiots. They usually get what they deserve (Example 1 – Example 2), but sometimes the underdog prevails (even though it’s rare).
This is one of the times the idiot escapes, but I have to admit it’s pretty impressive. The incident happened on Friday in a game between the Houston Astros and New York Mets. A fan stormed onto the field and used some Matrix-like moves to get away from security. They’re calling it “The Great Fan Escape”:
Pretty impressive, eh? I think it’s funny the fans we’re even pulling for him. That’s probably the most noise the crowd made that night, figuring the Astros lost 6-4.
I’ll give the guy credit for his moves and his timing. He pulled off the feat in the bottom of the ninth inning, so as far as I know, he got away for good (likely mixing in with the crowd as they filed out). He’ll probably never show his face in that ballpark again, but he’ll live forever in internet fame.
What do you think of “The Great Fan Escape”? Are you impressed or disappointed he didn’t get nabbed? I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below, email me at tim@timlewissports.com, or connect with me on Twitter and Facebook.
