Washington State Coach Slips On Court Calling Timeout
Washington State head coach Ken Bone slipped on the court (falling hard on his side) trying to call a timeout against rival Washington last Sunday. I was watching the game live when it happened and I assumed I’d see that clip pop up all over the place — I was right!
Bone’s slip started making national headlines, getting featured on television shows like SportsCenter, and on websites like Yahoo! Sports and USA Today, among hundreds (if not thousands) of others.
If you haven’t seen the clip of the slip yet, here you go (jump ahead to the 5:18 mark of the video):
I cover the Washington State basketball team, but I wasn’t in Seattle for the game. So, the next time we went to practice (on Tuesday) we asked Bone and WSU guard/forward Marcus Capers about the slip. I think their reactions are pretty priceless (thank goodness Bone has a sense of humor).
ESPN College GameDay got such a kick out of our interviews that they’re using them on a segment called “The Week That Was” this weekend.
It’s always fun when one of my local teams starts making national headlines (for good (winning championships, etc.) or bad (slipping on the court during a game, etc.)). I wanted to make sure you had a chance to enjoy the incident, so I shared it with you here.
I would love to know what you think about Bone’s slip/hard fall on the court against the Huskies. You can reach me on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, email me at tim@timlewissports.com, or simply leave a comment below. Don’t forget to also check out my YouTube channel for more great videos!
